Throughout our lives, we put a major focus on building wealth for our and our family’s safety, but we often ignore the other vital asset of our life: our health! Therefore, we discussed diverse healthcare innovations with experts at the first International Investors Summit in Abu Dhabi. Our esteemed guests for this health and wellness panel were Dr. Vaidya Asvin Barot and Dr. Nikolaos G Kostopoulos. Mr. Paras Barot, known for his stunning strategies for angel investment in startups, moderated the panel discussion.
About our Healthcare Experts
In the International Investor Summit Season 1, organized by the IVY Growth Associates in Abu Dhabi, we discussed diverse topics like wealth, real estate, entrepreneurship, and healthcare. We had an interesting and insightful panel discussion on global healthcare innovations with industry experts Dr. Vaidya and Dr. Nikolaos.
Who is Dr. Vaidya Asvin Barot?
Dr. Vaidya Asvin Barot is an expert in Ayurveda, working in the field for more than five decades. After completing his education, he shifted to the UK and became an active ayurveda practitioner. He introduced the traditional Indian medicine practices in the UK in the early 1980s. From there on, Dr. Vaidya began advocating the benefits of Ayurveda and the holistic impact of yoga and meditation for better health.
Who is Dr. Nikolaos G Kostopoulos?
Dr. Nikolaos G Kostopoulos is a medical expert who has worked in prestigious healthcare units at the Athens Naval Hospital, Sotiria Chest Hospital, and Manchester Royal Infirmary in England. Dr. Vaidya introduced him to the world of Ayurveda, and he has since learned about holistic healthcare and established a holistic healthcare center in Kifissia, Greece. He studies metabolic diseases and pain management.
Dr. Vaidya and Dr. Nikolaos have joined hands in applying and promoting holistic healthcare, including Ayurveda and modern medicine, and advocating for it worldwide through campaigns and corporate wellness programs. We had the great opportunity to invite them to our summit for an inspiring discussion on using Ayurveda and modern medicine.
Insights from the healthcare panel discussion with Dr. Vaidya and Dr. Nikolaos
While many benefits and guides exist on investing in startups and the financial market, people often forget the most important one. Investment in personal health gets you a long way, enough to enjoy the fruits of your financial ones. As vehicles work on energy, so does our body, such as ATP energy! Dr. Nikolaos suggests investing in this energy to thrive and achieve the wellness you strive for.
Dr. Nikolaos presents a few statistics showing that investing in healthcare significantly impacts the economy. He presents a stat from The Times highlighting that the payment of sickness in England will be around £100 Billion yearly because healthcare is declining. If healthcare is taken care of and people become healthy, over time these funds could be utilized elsewhere, like helping
people in need.
Furthermore, he shares insights on the top three medicines in the healthcare market, which are obesity, autoimmune diseases, and blood clot prevention. While the medication helps you control the situation, it’s not a permanent solution, and the problem has a probability of bouncing back. That’s why there is a need for a sustainable health and wellness solution.
When we hear about ‘herbal’ medicine, our mind immediately thinks it’s ineffective because they are just herbs. However, it is vital to understand that herbs are indeed medicine working on a chemical and molecular level and thus have a similar impact on the body.
The solution that bridges the gap between conventional medicine and optimum dietary supplements to meet the body’s needs is the Herbaceuticals and Nutraceuticals. Both combine Ayurveda and modern medicine to meet the body’s needs with natural herbs for sustainable healthcare. These two are rising as a way of holistic health and wellness care.
One of our attendees asked if using technologies like AI is ethical in healthcare or traditional Indian medicine. Dr. Vaidya explains how modern technology is incorporated into creating the herbal treatment that bridges the gap between Ayurveda and modern medicine. He describes how they are working with advanced labs to study the phytochemicals in the herbs to identify the potential diseases they could be used for.
Dr. Nikolas points out that AI healthcare innovations have many benefits, but one can use them only after knowing their limitations. While AI is good for doing some tasks, it is not yet equipped to understand human nature or the brain because it relies on an algorithm of zero or one, and the human brain is anything but that. Understanding the limitations of AI can help us create better tools for improvement.
While we opened the stage for our audience, one question highlighted the lack of investment in biotechnology. So, one of our attendees highlighted that she got lead poisoning by consuming ayurvedic medicines and how one can deal with it. Dr. Vaidya emphasizes how there are standards for growing the herbs for Ayurvedic medicine, and there is still a growth gap in performing proper tests to identify the quality of the herbs used in the medicine.
Dr. Nikolaos further explains that our resources, like land and water, have been polluted with harmful chemicals, and thus, products like herbs and seafood absorb them and become toxic. Proper measures should be taken to improve the harvesting. There is a high scope for building an appropriate testing method for pharmaceutical products in the healthcare sector. Considering the growing demand for herbal medicines, there is a huge potential for angel investment in healthcare startups dealing with Ayurveda and modern medicine.
Health and wellness are crucial, and regular healthy practices can help you stay fit. But how do you implement healthy practices in your busy lives? That’s what one of our attendees asked. Dr. Vaidya points out a few things to help you stay fit. Start your day with warm water and take 100 steps after meals. Walk in the shape of 8 for a few minutes in your day for muscle health.
We had an insightful panel discussion on the healthcare system and the use of Ayurveda and modern medicine to provide a holistic approach to a better life. We will thank Dr. Vidya and Dr. Nikolaos for shedding light on the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical sector and its growth potential.
